The exposure error in Imatest is calculated by subtracting the measured and expected (reference) normalized luminance values for each patch. This is output in the JSON file as exposure_error_normalized_y_channel.

NOTE: PRIOR TO one of the 22. releases, we gave exposure error results in units of f-stops. Now they are given as normalized “pixel” values for the luminance channel.
